SWEET LOVER

As a sweet lover, will you touch me

Will your sweet fingers stop the beating of my heart

I will swoon, sick with love,

To lie with you, so soon, too soon, not linger.

…….

There are many lovers, seen but not yet tasted.

I have seen them all, so I deceive me,

Swirling past me through the moving reels of memory.

…….

The silent lover who clings so lightly to your arm,

A modest companion for years,

The grip slowly tightening until you turn to face him,

His cruel eyes glittering as narcotic kisses blind you.

…….

The lovers who have gripped me with such passion

As I struggled free -

The sly one, the child stealer,

With his cold blank stare above a watery smile,

Who pushed me down, swept me away.

…….

How many loves have I tasted but spat out?

The risky charming guy in his fast car and the narrow misses,

The one who made me sick with love for months, jealous yellow,

When I was a child, and he a killer.

…….

The one who followed me around with pleading eyes, but I'd had the jabs.

…….

One lover, so fierce, squeezed me till the blood ran out,

Dead fox in the fast lane.

And I went back for more.

These cruel lovers have all been swept away by time.

…….

I am expecting to greet my last true love,

I have made preparations, pencilled in my diary,

Consulted my timetable,

But the mystery remains.

…….

Will he steal my heart, my head, my body?

…….

Sweet lover, there are so many things to do, not enough time, pleasures to take - ……

Please wait a little longer.
